INTERNET BREAKTHROUGH FOR PRIVATE INVESTORS

Concise details of all AIM listed companies at the click of a mouse A web-site that gives private investors up-to-the-minute financial and business information about each of the 400-plus companies listed on the Alternative Investment Market has just gone live. Called the Alternative Markets Review (www.amreview.co.uk) it provides regularly updated investment and financial information plus other developments affecting constituent companies.

Along with company details, the site (previously published in hard copy) includes a news page and fuller analysis of a specific listing entitled 'AIM Company of the Week'. It also incorporates a special section on Recent Issues. For investors and on-line traders, this site gives details of all brokers and advisors for the companies listed.

Full access to all the site's facilities costs £10 a month, but the entire site is open free for trial purposes, until 31st August 2000.

Says managing director Bill Johnston: 'AIM quoted companies offer attractive investment opportunities. However, many of those listed are under-researched and the haphazard distribution of information has made it difficult for private investors to obtain the background that they need to make informed judgements. Alternative Markets Review provides them with such a tool.

'I must stress that we are not a tip sheet. There are plenty of those around, and we make no pretence of omniscience. However, all of our reports are written from an investment perspective. We believe that simply reporting a company's activities and financial position will let its quality show, and the site will provide a valuable tool for people who want to make investments.'

The two directors of the company spent three years developing the site. Both have sound financial backgrounds. Managing director Bill Johnston has held senior positions in the investment and banking fields for many years. Chairman John Cousins FCA, qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1974, operates an international practise and has written books on a range of financial topics.
